WELCOME

This cottage was restored to a very high standard and has been in the McCloy family for six
generations. Because the local people pronounce the name McCloey, it has since been renamed to McCloeys Cottage. Most of the family emigrated to north America where there are numerous descendants but the name is now absent in Glenaan.
The dwelling is part of a working hill farm, typical of Glenaan,  'The Glen of the Fuscias', where there is abundant birdlife and insectlife and where there is ample opportunity to go walking in a peaceful
unspoiled environment.

Included within the farm is The Giant's Grave, a megalithic tomb, the reputed resting place of Ossian, a warrior and poet of early Christian times. From the Grave site, at an altitude of 450ft there are views
down Glenaan and Glencorps and across the channel to the Scottish Coast. Close to the site is a
memmorial to John Hewitt who described it as his 'chosen ground'.
The village of Cushendall, capital of The Glens is 2.5 miles from the cottage. There you will find Supermarkets a Bank, Post Office, Restaurants, Pubs, Golf Course, Boating, Fishing and
fantastic beaches.
The famous Antrim Coast Road is close by and The Giants Causeway is within easy reach, as is The Old Bushmills Distillery, said to be the oldest in Europe.
